Galaga is a fixed-shooter game in which the player controls a stargazing warrior at the bottom of the screen, tasked with fending off waves of alien enemies. The aliens, known as the Galagans, attack in a variety of patterns and formations, making each level a challenge of its own. The goal is to eliminate as many Galagans as possible while avoiding their projectiles and kamikaze attacks.
Galaga introduces an interesting element of the game with its powers and enhancements. By shooting and capturing certain Galagans, players can enhance their Starfighter's abilities. Capturing the "Double Fighter" Galagan, for instance, will grant you an extra ship, effectively doubling your firepower. Other power-ups include the "Tractor Beam", which allows you to temporarily capture and control enemy ships, or the "Rapid Fire" upgrade, which allows for faster firing.
How to play Galaga
The goal in Galaga is to survive wave after wave of alien attacks while earning as many points as possible. Your main goal is to destroy the Galagan aliens and avoid being hit by their bullets or kamikaze attacks.
Study enemy patterns: Observing and understanding enemy formations is very important. Galagan aliens attack in different patterns, such as diving, swooping or moving in geometric shapes. Study their movements to predict their attacks and plan your evasive actions accordingly.
Shoot and kill enemies: Use the joystick to move your stargazer horizontally at the bottom of the screen. Press the fire button to shoot bullets at the Galagans. Aim carefully and try to eliminate as many aliens as possible. Remember, accurate shots can trigger a chain reaction, earning you bonus points and extra lives.
Dodge enemy attacks: As you progress through the levels, the Galagans will become more aggressive and their attacks harder to dodge. Use your joystick to steer your stargazer in a zigzag pattern, making it harder for the aliens to hit you. Be alert and react quickly to avoid getting hit by bullets or their kamikaze dives.
Aim for High Scores: Galaga is known for its competitive play and ability to score high. Aim for the highest score possible with strategically effective enemies, chain successful hits together and maximize the use of power. Track your score and try to improve after each play.
Remember, practice makes perfect, so don't get discouraged if you don't get a high score right away. Keep playing, learn from each session and you'll soon be on your way to becoming a Galaga master!
